Mount Prospect Regulations Nonrenewal of Tenancy

If the Mount Prospect Residential Landlord and Tenant Regulations apply, then the landlord must notify the tenant about not renewing the lease. It does not matter how long the tenant has been living in the unit.

  • For written leases: The landlord must give at least 60 days of notice before the termination date stated in the lease.
  • For month-to-month leases: The landlord must give at least 30 days of notice before the lease terminates.

If the landlord fails to give the required written notice, then the tenant may stay in the unit for 30 days and pay rent.
