VAWA Protections: The Importance of Confidentiality
VAWA recognizes that keeping a survivor's information private is important for their safety. All information given by survivors of violence must be kept confidential by the housing provider. It cannot be put into any shared databases or shared with other people. The information may only be released if the survivor of violence asks in writing, or if the law requires them to release it.
